A suspected burglar accused of rushing a Memphis police officer while fleeing from a garage in Frayser on Tuesday landed in Shelby County Jail on Wednesday.
Police charged Cleo M. Moore, 32, of Memphis, with aggravated assault and aggravated burglary. Warrants also had been issued for Moore on previous theft charges. He was held with no bond amount immediately set.
About 3 a.m. Tuesday, an officer fired a shot to repel a man armed with a handgun who attacked him as police investigated a garage during a prowler call at 3593 Dumas, near Westside Park, police said.
The officers found four other men in the garage and charged Travis Butler, 23; Antario Graffed, 19; Eric Hammond, 19, and Donald Hampton, 18, with aggravated burglary.
The home on the property had been ransacked, and the men also were charged in another burglary, on Monday in the 900 block of Par, to which they confessed, according to court documents.
