This is where thousands will be meeting before they see the Jackson State Tigers take on the Tennessee State Tigers Saturday night for an event better known as the Southern Heritage Classic.

Thurmond said, "We put it on our calendar for the year to come out and have a great time and relax, setup the camp and cookout and have a barbeque."

The man proudly holding up a Southern Heritage Classic tee-shirt in his office is Fred Jones, the founder of Southern Heritage Classic.

Jones said, "We get a lot of people coming in from Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Oklahoma, Northern Texas because of our television exposure and the fact we've been doing this for 22 years our branding has been outstanding."

Phone calls are coming in, tickets are being sold for an almost homecoming experience that alumni and fans have marked on their calendar since last year.

Jones said, "It's really a homecoming atmosphere for them and the tremendous exposure and we've built some recruiting into it with the classic college fair." �

The football game, battle of the bands, fashion shows and concerts attract thousands from all over the country with Memphis reaping huge economic benefits.

Jones said, "This is what people look forward to. They can enjoy the whole weekend, good entertainment, great football game, great halftime show and you can't ask for anything more than that."

It's a classic game that's a win-win for Tiger fans from both Jackson State and Tennessee State.

Thurmond said, "There's nothing like a Southern Heritage Classic and a great time, a great fellowship, friendship and family fun for everybody to come out and just have a great time."
